Junes challenge is Beach babies

Here is my June kit, it's the last one from the challenge group for a while. I've got to work on my daughters Brownie scrap book and I'm going to be making some stuff for that. May put some on my blog later.
The colors this month came from my youngest daughters swim suit, I wanted to be able to make some beach scrap pages of our trip to the beach. I wanted the papers to be bright and playful, so I suggested Beach Babies as the theme so the kit would be bright and colorful for kids. I planed on adding more elements, and I'm probably going to add more soon, so just keep looking. I just didn't have time to finish them this month.
There are lots of different papers here for all styles and likes. There are a few torn papers.

This month is Home improvement for Scrap Kit Challenge. Well, I have to admit that I twisted the theme a bit. Because the women in my family are the ones who do the home improvement stuff I had to make it girly. Yes, I do plumbing too. I have actually spent this week doing home repairs as well as making this kit this month. So here is a little sneak peak. We will be putting up the blog train at the end of this month.

New favorite tool

OK, I was playing around with this blog, trying to learn more about it and how to make it more fun. I found photo tips to add, I can always use new tips about taking photos. My nickname at home is Mamarotzi, because I'm after the kids with the camera all the time like a Papariatzi.
But, my new favorite is the random color scheme genorator. You can go to the website, pull colors out of photos to come up with your own scheme, or use one of the ones already created. You can save them as Photoshop color scheme files, which is too cool because they will be in your photo shop menu under Window, then color swatches. You have to load it into there, but then it's there to use. I think that's too cool. colr.org is the website to make the schemes, you can even load your own photo and extract a scheme out of it. I'm going to totally play with that one later. I made a pretty color scheme for myself, I will make something with it soon.

So I've been designing these shopping bags/totes

I have been working on getting them just right. I have some of these papery shopping bags, that just don't seem to hold up. I've used them only a few times and they are stretching out and falling apart, so frustrating. I just don't see how GREEN they are if you have to throw them out after a few months and buy more.

I liked the size of them, they are BIG and the fact that they stand up in the car and don't roll all over like plastic, or softer bags. Not to mention that they are kind of plain looking. So I've used them as my inspiration. The fabric I chose is the same kind of stiff fabric to stand up in the car when they are full. I layered the bottom for more support and to keep it's shape. Like the papery ones I made the straps long enough to hang over my shoulder or tie the top closed when I don't want the kids to see what's inside. I think they are cute. I'm posting the black ones here, but I have other colors that I'm going to put together later today. I use it as a tote as well, for my craft supplies when I want to bring them out with me. Big enough to pack things for trips when I travel with 4 kid, that equals lots of stuff, and big enough to put lots of groceries in. I buy those big family size boxes of cereal and they fit sideways in the bags. Here's a picture, but check them and other stuff out on my etsy site at http://www.4heartdesign.etsy.com/ .

Tuvan throat singers

My teenager had taught himself how to make some of the throat singing sounds. He is fascinated with the sounds of throat singers all over the world. So they had a concert here where we live and I just had to bring him. It was cool. It's such an interesting sound, it actually put my other kids asleep in the car on the way home, because I got him the CD. This group puts it together in a really relaxing and nice way. So here is the website to give you some idea of what this is. The concert we saw wasn't with a big band like the video on the front page, it was just the 4 guys, and the CD is just the 4 guys they have clips below the video so you can here it.

It was a lot of fun to do something different for a change. I'm very blessed with a super sweet and interesting teen who opens my eyes to many different types of music.

I'm finished with my part so I made a quick page to show how the kit can be used. I had planned this to actually make a family tree page. So here is my quick page. The picture shown has an example of what family members to put on the name plates, but the quick page is blank so you add your family. There is a place to add a family photo under the frame at the top. Or you can wait until the kit comes out and make it in the color you like the most. There are actually two quick pages, one with a bigger plate at the bottom because I have 4 kids, so they would be listed at the bottom.

Busy sewing

I was been busy sewing and screen printing yesterday. I'll put a picture on when I finish. I'm working on shopping bags. I have some of those store style bags that are kind of like paper. I love the size of them and the fact that they stand up in the car and don't roll all over, but they just don't last. So I'm working on a fabric replica of the ones I like so much. I'm printing something on the side. I think they are going to look super cute. Can't wait to finish them. But 4 kids 2 dogs and lots of other things keep grabbing my time. I may have a picture by tomorrow or the next day.

Incase you can't tell... I've never had a blog before

You see, I love to do crafts. I also love digital scrapbooking. So I've read blogs, but never thought I would have one, I don't write very well. But I do love to make digital scrapbook kits and I make them with a Scrap Book Challenge group and we share them with eachother. They come up with the colors and theme and we try to get creative with it and share tips. So I thought I would share them here and join in their blog train. I've still got to figure out how to do that. Huge learning curve here. I like to tell my kids that I'm digitally old fashioned. I use most gadgets how they were first created, like a cell phone is for talking into for me. My teen just says I'm technologically illiterate. I do love Photoshop though, that's one digital thing that I'm always learning on because it's crafty and fun for me.

I do lots of different crafts, It's relaxing for me to get the creative juices flowing. It's my Yoga. So if I have some cool digital stuff I'll put it here for who ever wants it. If I see any cool tutorials, I'll try to direct you to them. But they could be on any kind of craft, I like to try new things all the time. I'm presently addicted to making Jewelry. So before I bore anyone to death, here is my first freebie. It's called Girl Power. My share is more of a Valentines theme for all of the cute photos taken during Valentines. It has some cute papers, a couple of heart overlays, if you put the black one on as an overlay layer it will darken the paper you put it over like my papers. A few heart frames, a little bling in the shape of a heart and what would Valentines be without Chocolate, yummy.
